We spent 10 days of April in Dallas starting with the weekend of Rachel's baby shower through Easter weekend. We split time at each grandparent's house as usual. We started off at Papa and Vivi's where we actually threw Madison's first birthday party (3 weeks early). Then we moved over to Nana and Pop's where we spent Easter.

The kids always have so much fun when they get to spend time with their grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.

The first night we were there we went to Valentino's with Nana and Pop and Papa and Vivi.
Madison loves lemons.
Hunter took turns sitting in each one of his grandparent's lap
We realized that weekend that Madison could drink out of a straw independently...something we just hadn't ever tried!

We went to Benihana to celebrate uncle James' birthday
Maddie was tired but LOVED the fried rice

Aunt Beekah and birthday boy uncle James
Family Pic
cousin time in the sandbox

lovin this swing!

Hunter is such a good helper
Pop watched the kids one afternoon while Nana and I got pedicures
Beekah met us at Willow Bend for a playdate, lunch and Easter dress shopping
It was here that realized Maddie had taught herself how to get off of things the right way and go down steps the right way...most of the time :)

We had fun with the fam as always and will return to Dallas again in just a few weeks!

Easter Weekend

We spent Easter weekend in Dallas on the tail end of a 10 day stay. We took the kids up to see Vivi at Christian Care center on Thursday so they could do the Easter egg hunt and see the Easter bunny. We ended up getting there early and they got to hunt eggs before the other kids arrived. We put a limit on their total but they still had fun hunting.

Hunter met the Easter Bunny

They love seeing their Vivi
Saturday we took them to the Highland Oaks egg hunt that Nana had put together as part of their community outreach.
Meagan, Noah and Chloe were there too

We invited the Benton's to come out too so we could hang out with them

Hunter loves hangin out with Pop

Hailey was too young for the egg hunt but she was pretty content to watch
Maddie didn't hunt eggs either because the older kids were pretty rough and would have totally trampled her!
Easter morning we went to Highland Oaks with my parents (Maddie's first Easter)
My handsome men
After church we ate a quick lunch and drove back to Houston!

Rachel's baby shower

After a few days at home we loaded back up and headed back to Dallas for a 10 day stay. Our weekend started off with my childhood best friend Rachel's very first baby shower. The shower was originally suppose to be at her parents house but a few days before the shower she was placed on bedrest for preterm labor. We decided to bring the shower to her! Oh my talk about DEJA VU! As soon as I heard I texted her the picture of me at my first baby shower...on bedrest...with a contraction monitor. I jokingly said welcome to the exclusive club of being on bed rest at your baby shower!

Seeing her with her little monitor on just brought me right back to 3 years ago. Hard to believe its been that long!
This was me at my shower 3 years ago...crazy (we are even covering up with the same blanket..which we both own in different colors)
The shower went really well. Drew opened all the presents while Rachel and watched.
A lot of her close friends and family were able to come and she and Drew got a lot of great things for Cayden!

The one time she got up the whole talk to her nurse
All the hostesses
The guys enjoyed fishing in their pond during the shower
We could not be more excited for Rachel and Drew. They are going to be such great and loving parents. We know Rach is in great hands and we are praying that Cayden waits a few more weeks (she is 32 weeks now) to make his entrance. Until then Rach is hangin' out on bed rest. Since we are here for the week I am excited that I will get to go spend some extra time with her since she isn't able to work right now...thinking only of the positive... bed rest stinks but hey I get to see my friend! :)
Love you guys!

Kansas city weekend

We just returned from a VERY quick trip to Kansas city with the Bentons. We drove to Dallas on Thursday morning and stayed the night with the Bentons. Friday morning we all loaded up and headed to Kansas city. We took 2 cars, guys and toddlers in one car and girls and babies in the other. The guys were able to stop for the multiple toddler potty breaks and the girls could stop for babies to be fed without us all having to make multiple stops for each other. We all made it to KC in great time around 5:30pm. We were just in time for the Niswanger twin's first birthday party!

Madison had a blast playing catch with this ball. She would throw it up in the air and then run over and get it...repeat 4,000 times.
The older kids had fun on the swing set out back

After Emory's party we headed back to pack up so we could leave for Dallas early Sunday morning. We made it back to Dallas on Sunday evening. This morning (Monday) we headed back to Houston where we will be for just 4 nights before we turn around and leave again!

We had such a wonderful weekend with all of our KC friends, even though we were sad that a few were missing. It's always nice to have a reason to get together. It's crazy how much our group has grown in the past 3 years with KIDS! We have all had at least 1 kid, some 2 some 3. Some have moved away and some are in the process of moving but when we get back together it always seems as if no time has passed! Such great friendships that we will forever cherish!
