8 months old

This happy girl is 8 months old today! She is so full of energy and curiosity. She cannot be still for 2 seconds, she is so BUSY!

Her most recent checkup (last week at the Cardiologist) she was 18 pounds even (44%) and 29.5 inches long (greater than 97%). Not surprised, she is still very tall. She wears size 4 diapers and size 9-12 month clothes. She got her 2 front teeth for Christmas so she is up to 6 now.

She is trying so hard to keep up with her brother and her older cousins. She is cruising all over the place and started letting go and standing alone this past month. It looks really unnatural for her to be standing there not holding on to anything because she is still so small, but she is one determined little girl!

She babbles and talks a lot more now. Her voice is getting much louder, possibly because she always has to talk over a certain VERY loud brother in order to be heard! She says momma the most often. She understands NO and responds very well to it for now. She loves to be talked to by anyone but ESPECIALLY by Hunter. She just craves his attention and thinks he is THE coolest thing in the world.

Lately she prefers to play in a squatting position

She is such a happy little girl. She loves to laugh and smile. She cheeses it up for the camera when I pull it out to take a picture. She does not like it when we leave the room because she likes our company or when we change her diaper because it means she has to stop playing. It is next to impossible to get her dressed or change her diaper because she can't be still for 2 seconds!

This just looks unnatural!

She sleeps 13 hours a night from about 6:30pm-7:30am. She naps for about 4 hours a day. Either two 2 hour naps or three 1-1.5 hour naps. Occasionally her afternoon nap will be 3 hours long. She is really trying to drop her 3rd nap I think. The longer her 2nd nap gets the harder it is to fit in that 3rd nap. I think she will have it totally dropped by next month. When she skips the 3rd nap we just put her down earlier (5:45 or 6:00) and she does just fine and sleeps till morning as usual.

She got her first ear infection this month and took an antibiotic for it, same time as big brother. She had about a week, when she was cutting her 2 front teeth and had the ear infection at the same time, that she was a little fussy, which is unusual for her, and she had a harder time sleeping. She would wake up in the night as soon as the Motrin wore off and cry out for momma. A dose of Motrin and snuggles did the trick and she was back to sleep till morning. Fortunately it was short lived because I have thoroughly enjoyed my sleep the past 7 months!

She is way too busy to snuggle these days so the only real snuggle time I get is when she first wakes up. I soak that right up! She still nurses 4 times per day for about 5 minutes. Her first morning feed is closer to 10 minutes. She eats 3 solid meals per day at the same time we do. She is a really good eater, much better than her brother was. She has not turned down a single food. She loves table food and baby food about the same. I do more baby food because it's easier to keep her diet well balanced but she has table food at each meal too. Her favs are bread, mac n cheese, spaghetti, lasagna, pancakes, waffles, bananas, oranges, cheerios and yogurt. Of the baby food variety she doesn't seem to have a favorite she eats them all equally. She usually has applesauce for breakfast and then two stage 2's for lunch and then a stage 3 and stage 1 for dinner with random tastes of whatever we are eating. She is getting better with the sippy cup but still prefers to drink out of a regular cup.

The biggest challenge with her right now is her mobility and curiosity! Her being mobile at Christmas time brought about a new challenge with the tree, ornaments and presents. She is really fast now and can do stairs so there is NO leaving her unattended. She goes straight for power cords or stairs.

She loves to play peek a boo and will cover face with a lovey or blanket and then pull it away and smile/laugh in anticipation of me saying "peek a boo"! She waves bye bye and loves to bang on everything. She laughs when brother cries....not very sympathetic this one! She loves baths and especially getting to play with toys in the bath. She loves dogs and being outside. Her favorite toy is an empty water bottle. She loves to grab my face or my hair and she LOVES to be tickled.

We just love this girl to pieces! She is the sweetest and easiest baby on the planet. The most common thing I hear from strangers about her is how beautiful her deep blue eyes are and how sweet of a disposition she has. She is such an easy baby...the kind of baby that makes you think you could have 4 more (ok not really going to have 4 more...but she really is that deceiving!)
