Hunter

We are in a stage right now with Hunter that I want to always remember. There are so many times a day that I catch myself just smiling at how absolutely precious he is. He says some of the sweetest, cutest and funniest things and I wish I could press pause right now and keep him right at this age/stage forever. Maybe this is the calm before the storm...who knows, but he is just so sweet right now. In the next month or two his little world is gonna be rocked with the arrival of his baby sister and he will have to start sharing mommy and daddy. I am so looking forward to that time because I can't wait to meet Madison but I am in no rush because she needs to cook a bit longer I am thoroughly enjoying this time with my little buddy right now.

Some of my favorite things he does right now is he "blesses" himself and others when they cough or sneeze. I will hear him from the other room cough and then say "bwess you" to himself with each cough... in the sweetest most innocent voice. He bows his head and closes his eyes during our prayers and at the end he says with great enthusiasm "A-M-E-N!" He is so polite and every time I do something for him or get something for him he says "thanks!" sometimes he will just bring me a toy to hold and as he hands it to me he says "thanks!". He says "pwease" when he asks for something like a drink or snack. And probably my favorite of all is he tells us when he is tired and wants to go to sleep. He will be playing and come up to me and say "sleep mommy?" or "nap". We walk right upstairs and he goes and crawls in his bed and pulls the covers over him and tells me night night.

He has started sleeping in a little more in the mornings. He still has his early bedtime (7:30-8:00p depending on the day) but he just loves his bed! He will wake sometime between 8:15-8:45 and I can hear him start talking to himself a little bit and I turn on the monitor and he is laying in bed playing and often times he rolls over and goes back to sleep for another 30 minutes or so. He did that this morning and I had to go in and wake him up for a play date we had at 9:30 so I could feed him and get him dressed. When he does wake up he will just play on his bed and talk to himself until I go up and get him...even if his door is unlocked! He doesn't even get off the bed to check the door he just waits there for me. Sometimes I go in his room and he looks at me and smiles and says "mommy sleep?" which means he wants me to lay and snuggle him for a few minutes.

He is still super snuggly, maybe even more so than before. He loves to come up and ask for me to scratch him which he calls "tickle". He wants each extremity plus his back scratched (just like his momma). He will lay his head down on my shoulder and sometimes he will randomly fall asleep! The other morning, he had been up for an hour or so and we had just finished breakfast and were watching cartoons and he climbed up in my lap and I started scratching him. He looked up at me and said "sleep". I didn't really think he was serious but a few minutes later he was out cold! I carried him in and put him in bed next to daddy (who was still sleeping) and he slept for another hour with daddy until they both got up around 10:00 and he still went down for his normal nap at 12:30!

He has gone through stages of things he is obsessed with and for the last 6 months or so it was all things alphabet and counting. Now that he knows his numbers and letters pretty well he is obsessed with shapes and colors. Everywhere we go he tells us what colors he sees and what shapes he finds. He shocked me the other day we were out running around and he said "octagon" and pointed to the stop sign. I don't think I have ever even used that word with him so I'm not sure where he learned it...maybe daddy taught it to him. But he knows all of his shapes and colors and instruments (thanks to little Einstein's). The other day he was doing the toddler flashcards on my iphone and a xylophone came across and he said "xylophone", I don't think I could have even told you it was a xylophone!

He also minds us so well. If I ask him to do something and he tells me "no", I say "you don't tell momma no" and he says "yes m'am" and then does it. All the while I'm thinking to myself...well that was easy. I really cannot say enough about my little buddy he is just so sweet! I need to remember to write down some of our conversations because he is at such a literal stage right and it totally cracks us up sometimes.

I will leave you with a sweet little video I took the other day of him giving Madison kisses and singing his ABC's. Melts my heart :-)

Madison at 31 weeks

I know, I have been lazy with the updates lately. I have a lot to post about but just can't seem to get the energy to do it! Blame it on the "don't wanna's" of the 3rd trimester or the constant traveling of the past month and half...either way I've got to get a move on it!

I will start with an update on Madison. She is doing great! She has been head down now for quite a while and the bigger she gets the greater the chance is that she will stay put. She measures about 3 weeks ahead in weight and only 1 week ahead in head size (thank you LORD for that one)! She is roughly 4 1/2 pounds right now at 31 weeks. I have still been getting my weekly shots of 17p, not much has changed on that front, and I will continue to get them until I reach 36 weeks. They really seem to be doing the trick because the only time I get frequent, time-able contractions are on Sunday nights, the night before I get my weekly shot. It's always a bit of deja vu on Sunday's but it is NOTHING compared to how often I had them with Hunter so I don't even bat an eye. I just take some tylenol, drink some water and soak in the tub and within 2 hours they are gone! Otherwise I just get random harmless Braxton hicks contractions throughout the week. So, it seems the shots are really helping relax my uterus.

My last visit to the high risk OB was great as usual and I only have 1 more visit with them until I graduate! Of course that's assuming things stay on course as they have been. It has been a VERY uneventful past few months on the pregnancy front which is always good news. Madison is a movin' and a shakin' even more than I can remember Hunter doing. She has one spot on my right side that she LOVES to kick and it is completely raw and bruised! I don't mind though because with each movement it reminds me of the perfect and healthy miracle that is growing inside me!

The other night she got the hiccups for the first time, which I hear is evidence that her lungs are maturing. Since she is head down each hiccup caused her head to jam into my bladder. It was precious for about 15 minutes, but since it was 1:00am it got old pretty quick! It continued for about and hour and I couldn't sleep through them at all. Jordan got a kick out being able to actually feel her hiccup on the outside and decided to help me out a bit by trying to scare them out of her. He got really close to my belly and very loudly said "boo"! She jumped so big! Poor thing, it scared her to death! Jordan felt bad for scaring our unborn child, haha, but it did the trick and the hiccups were gone...and it was back to lala land for momma :-)

We had a 3D/4D session yesterday to get a sneak peak at Madison's face. I compared them to Hunter's pics at around the same gestational time and they look SO much alike. It looks like she has Hunter's nose (daddy's nose) and my lips... same as Hunter. We got a peak at her ears too and it looks like she has my ears (non-tachy's)...meaning she has an ear lobe :-) She already has LOTS of hair and if the old wives tail lives up I am definitely getting the associated heartburn! She looked so precious all nuzzled up. We can't wait to meet her!

Check out those lips!

Sassy!

Hunter is 2!

I cannot believe my baby is 2 years old! He has changed so much in the last year and is growing so fast. He is soooo much fun, we laugh at him and the silly things he does everyday! There is NEVER a dull moment.

He is 36.5 inches (92%), 30 pounds (73$) and his head is 20.5 (100%). He is in size 8.5 wide shoe and wears 2T clothes. He is really into cars right now. Specifically "race cars". His train obsession is definitely still there but has taken a back seat to the cars in the past few weeks. E-V-E-R-W-H-E-R-E we go he tells us every car he sees and what color it is and wether or not its a big car, police car, fire truck, tractor, big truck or race car. Who needs a DVD player in the car to keep your toddler company when they would rather give you a play by play of EVERYTHING they see. I love it and I also love a break from the same old DVD he always wants to watch in the car.

He loves sleeping in his big boy bed. He has been there about 3 months now and the transition has been super easy. He goes down still around 7:30pm and sleeps till 7:30am. He naps from 12:30-3:30 everyday in his bed and is still SUCH a good sleeper. He falls asleep, within minutes if not seconds of when his head hits the pillow, just like his momma :-) When we travel he sleeps in a big bed as well so we haven't had to lug the pack-n-play around for the past few months which has been nice!

He loves to play at pump it up, anytime we will take him, and he loves go to the little gym to play with friends on Tuesday mornings. He is still a jumper and a climber and is getting more and more brave as he attempts to jump off of things and climb up things like the counter top in the kitchen! We took down the baby gates around the time we moved him to a toddler bed, at 22 months, because he has mastered the stairs enough that we feel comfortable with him on them. Of course now that the baby gates are gone the fascination with stairs is gone so its not really an issue anymore...go figure.

He knows all of his ABC's and all of his colors and can count to 20. He loves counting things especially the stairs as he goes up and down them. He says please and thank you and I'm sorry appropriately. He can pretty much communicate anything he wants and understands just about everything we say. Takes the guess work out of meals, cartoons and toys he wants to play with. He loves new words too so we have to be REALLY careful what we say around him and the tone we use or we learn really quickly just exactly how we sound and most of all how sarcastic we can be sometimes! Although I must say hearing a toddler say something literally that was meant sarcastically is pretty funny!

He loves to watch me cook and help as much as possible. He wants to do everything we do and gets his feelings hurt if we even go to the bathroom without bringing him along! He is such a big helper and actually does help me put away dishes and throw away trash and fetch the remote or a drink or whatever. He is quite handy to have around!

He is REALLY interested in the potty and is slowly working up the courage to actually use it. He talks about it ALL DAY LONG and gets super excited if anyone else has to go potty. He has gotten as far as sitting bare bottomed on it, by his own doing, not ours, but he has yet to actually do anything on the potty. That's progress though! I will be happy if he is potty trained before his 3rd birthday, so no pushing or rushing here, we will move at whatever pace he is comfortable with.

We had his 2nd birthday in Dallas, with family and a few friends. We kept it small and had his bounce house and roller coaster set up in the garage for the kids to play with. Beekah gave him a life sized choo choo train which the kids also loved to play on and Nana and Pop gave him his first tricycle which they fought over as well. He got all of the bigger non wrapped presents before the party so they had plenty to play with when the party started. Not to mention all that he got AT the party too! He hit the toy jackpot!

Hunter had some DELICIOUS Elmo cupcakes for his party. We were just sure he would blow out the candle himself this year because he LOVES to look at fire and talk about fire and blow out "fire" (candles) but when put on the spot he just froze, staring at the fire. Haha, we waited as long as possible and then just blew it out for him.

For party favors, Hunter gave each kiddo at the party a personalized embroidered lunchbox filled with homemade sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies decorated by me, Vivi, and Jordan. Actually Jordan did most of the cookie decorating and he did a really good job! Mmm they tasted soooo great too :-)
