Body Language

Mealtime protests are few and far between now that Hunter is off baby food. He loves eating what we eat and we rarely see the kung fu moves that were once a staple of mealtimes. I have, however, noticed a new form of communication to signal the meal is over...

Yumm fried rice my fav!!

and I'm done...

Mom, you are crazy if you think I'm gonna finish that

There has got to be a way out of here...

If I can just climb over this tray...

Sweet, I found a way out...

See ya sucker!!

Missin Daddy

Well Christmas was WONDERFUL!! It was so great to spend time with family and to get to see Jordan today. We are exhausted from all the festivities and wouldn't you know my camera battery died before I got to take a single picture! Don't worry plenty of relatives took pics but I will have to wait for them to get me copies before I can post them.

Before we knew Jordan was going to be able to come home today we sent him a little text message with a picture of Hunter and a message to Jordan just to let him know we missed him. Hunter has been really cheesin it up for the camera lately. The second we get the camera out he starts smiling like he knows that is what he is suppose to do. It's pretty cute!
I'll post pics soon!

Christmas Festivities Begin!

Hunter and I ALMOST had to spend Christmas all alone in Houston this year, because he was diagnosed with RSV on Saturday...which is VERY contagious and meant that he needed to be quarantined for a least a week possibly 2! I was soooo bummed because I knew Jordan wouldn't be home for Christmas since he is in Jacksonville and that meant Hunter and I would be all alone :(

I was really sad that I was not going to get to be with family this week and was really starting to question whether or not he really had RSV because his symptoms didn't match up. So, I took him in to get the nasal swab on Monday (test to confirm RSV), and it was NEGATIVE (it was just a cold and ear infection)!! Woohoo, we jumped in the car and immediately drove to Dallas after I quickly packed up the car with presents and threw a suitcase together.

But in the 48 hours that I thought we were going to be alone I was really sad that I would miss out on all the Christmas festivities so I made gingerbread cookies and decorated a gingerbread house (we used to do this as kids around Christmas). I got the house decorated but was worn out afterwards so didn't get around to getting the cookies done.

I planned to decorate the cookies later this week seeing as how I was going to be couped up with sickly all week. BUT the next morning we found out we got to go to Dallas!! So the cookies came with us and will be finished with the fam this week.

So, now we are here in Dallas and Jordan called tonight and said he could come home for Christmas!! Woohoo!!! So he will fly home Christmas eve and fly back Christmas night (only 24 hours) but we will take what we can get!!!

So excited now!

We are doing Christmas with my family tomorrow (24th) and Jordan's family on the 25th. Plus I have a few other extended family events and friends to meet up with here in Dallas before we return to Houston Monday.

I will post pictures of the festivities later!

Merry Christmas!

We're moving!

As most of you know by now Jordan signed with Jacksonville yesterday! He will remain in Jacksonville through the end of this season (1 more game) and then will return home on Monday after the last game.

The timing was a bit of a surprise because we were under the impression he couldn't sign with a team until free agency begins in March....well we were wrong! We were hanging out watching a movie on Friday when Jacksonville called and Jordan left an hour later for Florida! We were expecting a normal Christmas holiday this year since Jordan is injured and not playing. This would have been the first in 6 years BUT not so much. Jordan has to stay in Jacksonville this week as they finish out the season Sunday. So....Hunter and I are in Dallas with the fam wishing Jordan was here :(

We will be moving this spring (March/April) to Florida so he can begin offseason with the team. We have no plans at the moment to sell our Houston house or move our belongings. We plan to rent a condo in Florida since he signed a short term contract (1 year). His shoulder should be completely healthy in time for the 2009 season. In fact, I predict his shoulder will be 100% by March!

We are very sad to leave our Houston friends and our church here but we are very excited about the move and look forward to being Floridians for 8 months as well as all the traveling we plan to do up and down the east cost while we're there :)....so many places to see!

Go Jags!

10 months old!

It feels like I just wrote his 9 month post! Now he is already 10 months! With each age comes new challenges and exciting milestones and there is just never a dull moment, I love it!

Hunter is 22 pounds 2 ounces and 30 inches long. He still has 5 teeth. He wears size 4 diapers and 12-18 month clothes.

He sleeps 12 hours a night (7pm-7am), except for this month for some reason his body must be extremely efficient because he poops at least once sometimes TWICE a night now so we have to change him in the middle of the night but he goes right back to sleep until he is woken in the morning with another poopy diaper!!! It must be the new diet! He takes 2 (2-3 hour) naps per day. He is weaned off of bottles and now gets only sippy cups and he isn't too particular about the kind! He takes the nuby soft spout ones and the nuby straw ones for the most part, but will drink out of anything we give him!!! Woohoo for learning from a straw (this is a recent developement).

Highlights of month 9:

He is still cruising along furniture or anything else he can grab on to

He walks behind his walk along toys

Stands alone after pulling up

Can return to sit gracefully after standing

Can sit in a squat to play with toys

Still walks assisted with mom and dad but needs less assistance everyday

Climbs up EVERYTHING

He said his "official" first word (meaning he actually knows what he is saying) which was "DOG"

He still says Dada all the time and will mimic the noise ruff which sounds like "fff" when I ask him what noise a dog makes

He understands so much more now. When we talk to him he looks at us as if he understands what we are saying.

He looks at things when we point and he points to things too. We can tell he knows drink, more, bottle, banana, dog, dadda, momma, "come see me", NO!!, and his own name.

He will no longer eat baby food. I mean this kid KNOWS if you are about to give him baby food. He will kung fu your hand if you even attempt getting a spoon of baby food close to his mouth and he will send that spoon flying! (there is so much baby food caked on the wall behind his highchair that I have spent a lot of time scrubbing that wall)

So he is completely on people food now and his favorite is Benihana fried rice with ginger sauce (just like mom and dad)!

He LOVES cheesecake!

His favorite foods right now are bananas, cheerios, fried rice, toast, eggs, waffles (but he wants the whole waffle not cut in pieces), and yogurt.

I can't eat in front of him unless I plan to share because he will start whining the second he sees me eating something he wants.

I love it when he... plays by himself and talks to himself, plays with my face, watches me while I talk, How snuggly he is after naps. How he treats baths like a job and will crawl and splash all over the tub with a real serious look on his face. How excited he gets when he hears the bath water going. I love how he steals everything I eat.

He loves...sharing his food with the dog (against mom and dad's wishes), drinking from a straw, stealing mommy's food, playing with things that aren't toys, eating dog food (yes he managed to get one down the hatchet and apparently thought it was good because the second the door to the laundry room opens he makes a beeline to the dog's food bowl to get more...YUCK!), turning on the water in our bathtub and letting it run through his fingers while I get ready in the mornings, climbing stairs or anything for that matter. He LOVES to rough house and will just giggle and squeal the whole time.

Jordan took a pic of Hunter next to his boot when Hunter was 2 weeks old and then yesterday he took another one...its crazy how much he's grown. He was 7 pounds 19 inches in the first pic and 22.2 pounds and 30 inches in the second!

We are loving every minute of it!

Hunter and his girls

Last week we went on a last minute trip to Kansas city so Jordan could hunt and we could meet little Kaitlyn (3 weeks old) before Robbie and Amber moved to Dallas. We had a blast hanging out for 4 days and snapped some pics of the kiddos but somehow forgot to get one of the adults...I guess that's what happens when you have kids!

Kaitlyn (3 weeks), Emory (7.5 months) and Hunter (9.5 months)
It is so fun to see these guys grow up together. Hunter and Emory are into EVERYTHING and poor little Kaitlyn was just trying to get some shut eye most of the week but these two crazy kids wouldn't leave her alone! It won't be long before all 3 of them are into everything and the age gap will no longer even be noticeable.

Robbie and Amber were packin up and relocating to Dallas so we all stayed at Rudy and Patricia's under one roof and it was so fun! But this is the last trip to KC that we will all be together since we live in 3 different cities now. But we have plenty of trips planned in the future so we can all meet up :)

I love this picture...It looks like Emory has an evil plan and Hunter is on to it!
These two kept grabbing at Kaitlyn this is the only picture we got where one of them didn't have their hands going right for her face...so curious!
It snowed while we were there and I got a picture of Hunter's first snow! We left to fly back to Houston right after this picture and when we got off the plane in Houston it was SNOWING!! That NEVER happens!

Playin around

Now that Hunter is back to feeling better he is playing all day and is especially loving his push along toy! I feel like he has missed so much interaction the last month with being sick for 3 weeks and traveling most of the month. It's nice to be back home in our normal routine again. He can stay up so much longer between naps than he could just a month ago before he was sick so we can get a lot of playtime in now! I caught a small video clip of him pushing one of his favorite toys...but as soon as he realized I was taping him he quickly stopped and crawled over to me, so it's a short clip. He is just so fun and into everything, I love it!

9 month checkup

Hunter finally had his 9 month checkup yesterday. We are 3 weeks late because we have been traveling almost the entire month. He weighed 21 pounds 2 ounces (50%), he was 30 inches tall (90%) and his head was 18 and 5/8 inches (95%). Not much has changed he is still tall and still has a rather large head (I still have not forgotten giving birth to that large head!). He got his first round of flu shots (he gets 2) and he was checked for anemia which he was clear. The pedi was pleased with his overall development and predicted he would take his first independent steps in the next month...we shall see though because he sure loves crawling! She said to begin the transition to whole milk in the next 2 months...I can't believe its so soon! He is already on sippy cups full time now so he is completely weaned off the bottle.

This has been a tough month for the little guy. He got sick for the first time just 2 days after I switched him over to formula from breastmilk :( He spent 3 weeks battling the little bug and it finally cleared up right as he finished taking his antibiotics. He started off with a cold which turned into a sinus infection and croup. We actually took him to the ER one night when we were in Dallas because he was having difficulty breathing and he was panicking. It was a LONG night in the ER (we only went to the ER because the minor emergency center wasn't open and we were 250 miles away from his pediatrician.) When we called his pedi they told us to take him to the ER after hearing his breathing through the phone. We spent from 10pm to 7am in the ER and none of us slept except for Hunter off and on. Vivian came with us. He ran a fever for 2 out of the 3 weeks and had vomitting and diarrhea for about a week so we were concerned about dehydration. He got his first IV and 3 bags of fluids and they ran multiple blood tests and a chest x-ray to rule out RSV, Pnuemonia, Influenza, Bronchitis and a whole host of other things. His blood came back with elevated white blood cell count and slight dehydration (which was nothing we didn't already know). But the knowledge that he didn't have something more serious made us feel so much better especially since we were out of town for so long and unable to take him to see his pediatrician.

It was a miserable few weeks though. Poor thing couldn't breathe and the only way he could sleep was at an incline either on my chest (with me reclined) or in the carseat driving around. I spent multiple nights driving him around at 2, 3 and 4 am utill he fell asleep and then I curled up in the drivers seat until he woke an hour or two and we had to start all over again. He couldn't hold any formula down for about a week because he would start a coughing fit and lose it all! So he survived on pediatlyte and very little food for about a week he lost almost 2 pounds through the sickness...poor guy :( It was very hard to see him feeling so bad.

So now he feels much better and is taking 12 ounces at a time!!! He is making up for lost time I guess. His pediatrician checked his blood yesterday and said his white blood cell count was still elevated either from his previous sickness or a new bug he has caught....oh joy! Next checkup is when he is a year old :0
