Fun photoshoot with Aunt Meagan

This past week my sister (Meagan) and brother-in-law and their two kids came to stay with us for a few days. My sister has been teaching herself about photography and loves practicing every chance she gets. So, I didn't mind that she wanted to "practice" on Hunter! She got some great shots of him just playing around. It was so relaxed and fun and they turned out great!! Here are some of my favs.

Hunter started doing this lip smacking/sucking thing with his tongue. It was pretty funny! For about 10 minutes everytime she would pick up the camera he would start making this face.

Meagan is working on building her photography portfolio and is shooting for free while she does it! So if any of you want some free pics of your kiddos, family, dogs, pregnancy, couples, birth (yes she is doing a birth for a friend soon) or anything else you can think of... then go to her website or blog and just invite her along for the ride! Where does the time go?

Left (2 days old) Right (5 months 5 days old)

Urgent Prayer Request

Patrick and Holly Briscoe, some friends of ours from Kansas City (and Harding), just had their baby girl Addison last night by emergency c-section at 27 weeks 5 days. Holly went to the doctor worried because of decreased movement and it was determined that she had very low fluid levels and the baby was in distress and measuring 3 weeks behind. They tried to get a careflight to Dallas but weren't able to wait and had to deliver immediately in Longview. She weighed 1 lb. 11 ounces 13.5 inches.

So far the doctors have given Addison an A+ but will be taking it one hour at a time. I am not sure at this time what type of life saving support she is on, but I will let you know as soon as I hear.

Patrick and Holly were in the process of moving all of the possessions this weekend to their new home in Longview, Texas where he will be joining an orthodontics practice at the beginning of August. He is due to graduate Ortho school in two weeks in Kansas city.

Please pray for all three of them right now....especially for little Addison.

Injury? What Injury?

Jordan holding Hunter one last time before surgery
(nice TED hose)
Look at my cuties
Make sure you do the right arm doc!
5 minutes before surgery begins... IV only took one try, so far so good!!!
Doc comes in to say "I will see you in a bit!!!"

But wait...

There is a knock on the door...

It's the hospital business office coming to let us know that the Texans WON'T pay for surgery because apparently Jordan isn't injured!

Oh really...? 4 Surgeons (including the Texan's team surgeon), 2 MRI's, 1 CT scan and x-ray all say he is injured...but the Texan's MANAGEMENT disagrees? Hmm strange. I didn't know the Texan's management went to Medical school...

Ok, so you get the point.

Surgery cancelled.

We're off to file a workman's comp suit.

We'll let you know when we win!

Until then we're going back home!

But before we do...we have a very hungry man who hasn't eaten in 24 hours...

This isn't gonna be pretty

Stay at home dad

This Thursday is a day many football players around the league are completely dreading...the start of training camp. This time of year is always a rough time for football families because the husbands have to be separated from their wives and kids for about a month while they go live in college dormatories or hotels. Camp consists of working 16 hour days enduring two-a-days in the HEAT of summer and LONG meetings that span from early morning till late at night... all the while hoping and praying that at the end each day if they will still have a job and a paycheck to take home.

For Jordan this Thursday is a day he is dreading because he is having shoulder reconstruction surgery. Most of you know that he sustained a season ending shoulder injury back in May of this year. He has attempted to rehab it, but has been told by 4 diffrent orthopedic surgeons that surgery is his only option at this point if he wants to continue to play football. Unfortunately, that means no football for him this year...which will be the first time in 17 years that he has not played football during football season.

The situation may seem anything but good, but I am a firm believer that blessings in disguise can always be found! This is the first year that we will get to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with our families! Jordan will get to be around while Hunter gets "mobile" this fall and he will get to be a stay at home dad with me as we raise Hunter together until next Spring when he starts free agency and off season again with another team in another city.

Please pray that his surgery and recovery goes well and for safe travels as we head off to Birmingham, Alabama tomorrow for him to meet his surgeon and go through with the procedure on Thursday.

5 months old!

In case your wandering what Hunter has been up to lately...well...your looking at it. He found his feet. He now has a permanent toy attached to his body and he LOVES them!

He turned 5 months old while we were in KC and he is just getting so much more personality. He has definite opinions about everything now. He is still pretty laid back but he can now voice his opinion on what he wants to be doing, eating, looking at etc. He loves practicing "talking" with all kinds of pitches, tones and VOLUMES!!! He has started teething over the last few weeks/months and he pretty much chews on EVERYTHING he can get in his mouth. We are still waiting on the first tooth to cut but he has quite a few "on deck" ready to come out any time. He is 17 pounds 2 ounces and 27.5 inches long!

Feeding is getting to be more of a challenge because he is so much more interested in the world around him than he is in the bottle. It is a chore to get him to sit still long enough to finish his bottle...having to fight him the entire time because he whips his head back and forth back and forth practically throwing the bottle out of his mouth because he doesn't want to miss a thing! He has started solids with a spoon....rice cereal, oatmeal, barley and applesauce and next on the list is peaches. So far he has enjoyed them all!

He has perfected the art of rolling over all directions, so much so that he often practices in his sleep and wakes himself up in the process. Jordan and I find ourselves cracking up all the time because at night when we are all asleep we will suddenly start hearing Hunter over the monitor playing in his crib. We look over and he is just cracking himself up making rasberries with his mouth and cooing/laughing just having a grand ole time at 4am. We had gotten kind of used to him sleeping through the night and then suddenly with all the traveling throwing off his schedule and teething and the rolling over in his sleep... 4am is now a time we get to be awake too! Good news is though he goes back to sleep pretty easily. You would think it would be annoying to suddenly have to get up at 4am after having it so good for so long but when we hear/see him on the monitor just having a ball by himself it is so cute and hilarious we can't help but laugh!

Lake Trip

We just returned from a 12 day trip to Kansas city which included a 6 day couples trip with 25 of our friends from KC to Table Rock lake in Northern Arkansas/Southern Missouri border. We had a BLAST!!! We had 3 different houses with 11 couples and 3 babies split between the houses. We shared our house with Rudy and Paticia (and baby Emory) and Robbie and Amber (and baby Kaitlyn in utero) we stayed 6 days at the lake and the other 6 days in KC. There were some awesome moments that will never be forgotten and some hilarious moments that are not allowed to be shared (sorry it's vaulted information). It was so wonderful to get to spend so much time with our friends in KC, we miss them soooooo much.

This was kind of our last get together as a group before we are spread out all over the country (and outside of the country) as new careers and new babies are in the near future. In the next few months some of our friends will be relocating to to various places across the country, so it will become even more difficult in the future to be able to ALL get together. So, we hope that the couples trip will become a yearly tradition so we can all keep in touch!
