The time has come...

Nana and Pop came for the weekend for some much needed Hunter time. So, I decided this would be the perfect time for Hunter to sleep upstairs in his nursery instead of in the bassinet next to our bed. This arrangement worked great with muliple middle of the night feedings, but I always said that I would move him upstairs once he was sleeping through the night.

Well, he has slept through the night for two months, but every time I tried to make the move, it made me too sad to think of him up there by himself.

So, with Nana and Pop in the next room, I put him in his nursery. He didn't even notice the change and slept for 11 hours, only waking up once for a bottle at 6am!

I, on the other hand, did NOT do so good. I woke up every 30 minutes to check the monitor. AND to make matters worse, the wonderful Angelcare movement monitor (which I highly recommend), that is designed to alert me if he stops breathing for more than 20 seconds, went off three times!!! Might I mention that it NEVER went off when he slept in our room. I, of course, freaked out, convinced that he wasn't breathing BECAUSE I had put him so far away from know "mom guilt."

I will confess that after the third time, I made a little bed for myself on the floor of his room around 2am. Had I been thinking clearly I would have realized that I neglected to adjust the sensitivity on the monitor to account for the thickness of the crib mattress. I slept peacefully on his floor until he woke up at 6am to eat.

Hopefully tonight I can sleep in my own bed minus the "mom guilt."

So...since we were making such great strides we thought we would start solids today! Nana got to feed him his first bowl of cereal from a spoon. He loved it!

4 months old!

Ahhh slow down! This is just going by too fast. Our baby boy is 4 months and getting so big. At his 4 mo. checkup the pediatrician said his strength and milestones were like a 6 month he is growing too fast. Let's see...stats...he is 26 inches (95%), 15 pounds 5 ounces (90%) and his head was 75% (not sure the measurement but at least he is growing into it!!). Remember at birth his head was like 7 weeks ahead (ouch!) and he was only in the 20% for height and weight at birth. The pediatrician was so impressed with his strength and alertness and of course she predicted he would be a jock, we aren't surprised.

He accomplished so much over the last month. He can sit up alone supported on his arms, roll over, stand up with support of his arms, laugh, coo, make bubbles, say lots of vowels and consinents B, K, H, M, L, G, and R are the ones that come to mind oh and he is perpetual motion!! He loves to splash in the tub, baths are getting pretty messy, and everyday his coos and shrieks get a little louder...just testing his voice out. I didn't know it was possible to love him any more, but I DO...everyday! We absolutely love being his parents and look forward to all the future milestones and memories, but my one request is that it all just slow down!

Happy First Father's Day Jordan!

Happy Father's Day to a WONDERFUL dad and husband! This father's day was celebrated with close friends in Kansas City. We went to church and then ate at the Plaza III Sunday buffet. "All you can eat" is a great tradition for Father's day and one that we will continue on future Father's days as I am pretty sure the guys really enjoyed it!

Father's Day brunch with Robbie, Amber, Rudy and Patricia (and Emory)
I must say Hunter is one lucky kiddo to have such a wonderful, hands on, loving father. Jordan is such a natural and is so good with Hunter. He has blown me away the past few months. I love to walk into the room and see Jordan playing with Hunter or giving him a bath, talking to him or just teaching him about the world. Jordan gets so excited when Hunter talks or coos back or gives a big old gummy grin. It just makes me fall in love with Jordan all over again to see him being such a wonderful dad. I can't wait for all the years to come and the priceless moments that my boys will no doubt provide. Until then I am loving every minute!
